Sheep Town at The Mart Theatre Skipton in 2007

Sheep Town Theatre Company is delighted to announce that as of January 2007 we will be the new resident theatre company at Skipton’s Mart Theatre. This will involve five shows during 2007 and regular workshops for both adults and children.

Joe Atack

joe atackJoe was born in Pontefract, West Yorkshire and began his actor training at the ‘Electric Theatre’ in Barnsley before going on to the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester, graduating in 2004.

Since graduating Joe has worked extensively in theatre performing in several shows around the UK for the Internationally acclaimed Artizani Street Theatre Company, for Epiphany on their Christmas show, The Lost Elves at Manchester Airport. Joe played Jason in the award winning O’leary’s Daughters at the 24/7 Theatre Festival, various roles in StartWrite at the Contact Theatre in Manchester and the role of Dr Spinoza in the sell-out Inky Fingers Theatre Company production of Cabbages again at the Contact Theatre. Most recently Joe played the lead role of Terry in black comedy Ravioli in the studio at The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.

Joe’s work on film includes playing the lead role of Gavin in the short film The Reading Glasses and the role of Keith Johnson, a terrible George Michael impersonator in a BBC short film.

Joe is also a stand-up comedian and is one half of Atack and Aldersley who have their own comedy night at the Alternative Cabaret.

Joe has worked as a workshop leader and deviser in the UK, Switzerland and the USA, teaching a range of acting classes from Improvisation and devising to Shakespeare. Joe is also a founding member of Inky Fingers Theatre Company and Sheep Town Theatre Company.

Sheep Town offers new and original theatre for the people of Craven based on local stories, themes and issues. We aim to make our theatre accessible and affordable to the community. We source all products and services locally. Sheep Town is a non-profit making constituted company. Sheep Town offers a free workshop to local schools on the issues and themes raised in their plays. Sheep Town Education run classes in acting and theatre for both children and adults in Craven at The Mart.
