Sheep Town at The Mart Theatre Skipton in 2007

Sheep Town Theatre Company is delighted to announce that as of January 2007 we will be the new resident theatre company at Skipton’s Mart Theatre. This will involve five shows during 2007 and regular workshops for both adults and children.

Sheep Town site specific shows

At Sheep Town we are available to design a show specifically for your venue or space to meet your needs. These shows can take the form of a tour or set in one location either indoors or outdoors. The show can take place over a number of days or can be an event in it’s own right or part of a larger series of events. We tailor the show to your needs.

Our past clients include The National Trust and CCM Auctions. We have designed a promenade show (tour) in a National Trust venue over Halloween. The show took the form of a ghost tour and we led the public through the venue and they experienced a variety of live interactive set pieces featuring our actors. These shows are family oriented and balance the right amount of scary with comedy to make for an extremely fun night out.

CCM Auctions commissioned us the design a tour around one of their cattle marts. The theme for the tour was “The Cow”. We wrote a show based on this theme and rather than staging our story on a stage in one place we set up the scenes in various locations within the Mart and we led the audience between them. The show met with a great response and sold out, we are currently discussing devising a new show for CCM’s 2008 season.

Sheep Town Murders

Murder Mystery nights have risen in popularity in the past ten years in this country. Sheep Town offers it’s very own take on the genre with “Sheep Town Murders”. We can design an event specifically for your needs or you can choose from one of our existing stories. Sheep Town Murders can be booked for a one off private party, or for a corporate weekend or training day.

If you are arranging a birthday party or are wanting your wedding party to have a twist why not have it end in murder! A Sheep Town Murder that is. Our murder mysteries are the ideal way of making your party event that all your guests can get involved and one that will be talked about and remembered for years.

The event focus on a fictitious event which your guests are invites. As the event unfolds your guests are privy to conversations and events, all the while they gather evidence. Imagine a live game of Cluedo. Our actors normally play the characters/ suspects at the event with our clients the witnesses and detectives. This means that no one is forced in to role-playing as some people find this very uncomfortable. This of course can be altered to suit your needs if one or more of your guests would like to be a “suspect”.

Sheep Town Murders can serve as an excellent team building exercise for your business with many of the country’s top companies using them as an alternative to the more traditional and conventional training exercises. The who dunnit aspect of the murder mystery encourages team work and the use of analytical and detection as well lateral and “outside the box” thinking. It is also serves as a great morale boost for your team.

Alternative Cabaret

Alternative Cabaret is a variety style show in which anything goes, involving acts from a variety of genres, performance styles and media. Alt-cab is a cross between a comedy night, music event and old fashioned variety show including; Stand-up’s, bands, actors, writers, impro troupes, magicians, singers, film makers etc.

Alt-Cab takes place in chunks during your evening, so after a course our hosts would introduce perhaps a magician. Then after another courses some music and then when the meal is finished our headlining comedian will take to the stage while your clients enjoy drinks. This is an ideal evening for entertaining clients or rewarding staff or perhaps for a wedding event or birthday party.

Event table entertainment

Are you organising a wedding, birthday party, dinner party or corporate evening? The why not invite Sheep Town’s performers to entertain your guests/ clients at their table between courses. We can offer comedy, magic, music and much, much more. The table entertainment is a less formal and personal table-to-table version of Alternative Cabaret, see above. As with all our services, we can tailor make the entertainment to suit your needs.

Recently we supplied “The Great Armundo Von Erich and Sasperalla” to the 9th Annual UK Internet Industry Awards at the Grovsnor Hotel in London.
