Overdale

KenanAlly and Hannah JaneOverdale was written to highlight a significant but little told era in Britain's history. Both during and after WW2, Britain held as many as 250,000 POW's in her various camps one of which was the Overdale camp in Skipton, North Yorkshire. Many of these POW's were allowed to work in farming, quarrying and council work and for the most part the people of Britain were thankfully hospitable to their new guests. The writing of Overdale was done with the aid of local historians and a former POW. These people provided us with an invaluable contribution and helped us to produce a work of fiction that is heavily based on facts.

Alan Brent (Grimshaw)Overdale tells the story of a German POW who takes work on a Craven farm. It is a story of human kinship under political and social pressures.
