Sheep Town Theatre Company is delighted to announce that as of January 2007 we will be the new resident theatre company at Skipton’s Mart Theatre. This will involve five shows during 2007 and regular workshops for both adults and children.

Sheep Town's production, Phantom of the Skies, is based on true stories of ghostly aircraft sightings in the Dales during WWII.
Two police officers witness the apparition of a ghost World War Two bomber over the Yorkshire moors. When the sighting is reported it creates shockwaves in the community. It challenges the officers’ credibility, their relationship, marriages and even what they saw. What does the sighting mean, what does it represent, did they actually see anything? As sightings increase the community begins to disintegrate.
The play is a black comedy that explores the cost of standing out in a small community and how going against the grain can lead to one being ostracised. The play also examines the social structure of a small community and the pressures involved living in one. Exposing the dark underbelly that exists in such communities. As well as this the play looks at how a friendship can be stretched to breaking point when its components are put under pressure.
